Blaum Bros. Distilling Co. was founded in 2013 by two brothers who discovered that the only way they could get along was to drink whiskey with each other. This love for the magical brown spirit led the brothers down the path less traveled; one where they ended up quitting their careers to distill fine spirits that would be enjoyed by all. After years of research, involving no formal education, the brothers have produced what they believed are deliciously intoxicating liquors.
When the Blaum Brothers, Matt and Mike, began the process of starting their own business, they had never actually distilled at home. Not knowing a lot about the distilling process, they had their fair share of hiccups in the process and were looking for solutions to different pieces of equipment that didn’t work according to plan, as well as the water pressure. That’s where A.Y. McDonald was able to step in and deliver a solution with trusted quality and dependable service.
Prior to working with A.Y. McDonald products, Blaum Bros. had trouble maintaining the water pressure in the distillery—a constant ‘tug and pull’ of their equipment stealing water from each other due to the inconsistent pressure. “We want to release good whisky,” said Mike Blaum. “Our goal isn’t just to make cheap widgets and profit from them. We want something that we can sit at the pool in the future and drink, and say ‘hey, this doesn’t suck!’”
“We’re miles ahead of where we planned to be at this point,” added Matt Blaum. “Sales have really taken off, so we’ve made quite a few more bottles that we originally planned.”
